The amount of space and silence left in these compositions is incredible. This is jazz, but the slowest, most minimalist incarnation of it I've ever heard.
I couldn't listen to this all the time. If in the wrong frame of mind, the glacial pacing and restraint can frustrate.
But if you're in the right mood, there's nothing that can beat it.
Notes that ring out, with nothing to impede their slow vibration towards silence.
This is album is a celebration of stillness.
